It’s hard to believe that another year has swept by. With a variety of initiatives that began in 2010 at FreeScore.com, we thought it appropriate to highlight some of the most noteworthy occurrences and accomplishments we saw. Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane to review 2010 one last time:
First Quarter 2010 Consumer Credit Score Awareness Study
We began the year with a number of consumer awareness studies that sought to provide insight on how well Americans understood credit scores. Surveys and polls sampled from a number of participants in Shelton, Connecticut revealed eye-opening statistics such as:
- 77% of Americans claim to understand credit scores
- Only 33% of that 77% know that a credit score can change five or more times per year
- 38% of men believe scores can change 5+ times in a year versus only 29% of women

Mid-March/early April, came the launch of our much-anticipated blog platform, giving us the flexibility to reach our audience on the fly. From the latest credit and personal finance news to our weekly roundup of engaging finance blogs, we added content that our readers could benefit from.
Second Quarter 2010 Consumer Credit Score Awareness Study
In our next comprehensive awareness study, we polled over 1,000 Americans, ages 18 and older to find that despite continuous advertising and articles about credit scores, consumer awareness of credit scores dropped 12% in just three months. The study also shows results on credit score awareness segmented by gender, age, education level, marital status, and household income.

FreeScore Puzzle – Commercial Teaser
In mid-July we had some fun promoting our upcoming TV commercial with a puzzle that offered $250 to a lucky Facebook and Twitter fan able to unscramble the pieces of our mysterious new campaign star.

Our new commercial of the year, starring Billy BadScore and the ScoreGuys was released in early August with a new branding message that focused on the importance checking all 3 of your credit scores. With the launch of the commercial, came a few viral videos that poked fun of the goofy BadScore in various scenarios, one in a hot tub setting and the other on a couch setting.
MLB Sponsorship (Mets)
Around the same time our commercial launched, we celebrated our love for baseball by advertising with the New York Mets on Citi Field, at Sports Net N.Y. and some digital advertising on both the Mets and SNY online properties.

In mid-October we delved a bit deeper into our social media campaigns and launched our own Halloween Mask Contest presented by our Billy the BadScore TV star. Participants were required to “Like” FreeScore on Facebook and submit a photo of a scary Halloween mask. Those with the most votes and creativity were eligible to win the $583 grand prize, that played off the BadScore’s credit digits. When the campaign ended, our Facebook “like” count had seen a 25 percent lift, and three winners went home with extra cash in their pockets and an increased brand awareness of our campaign!

We look forward to many more new achievements in 2011…stay tuned!
