Today FreeScore released its first mobile app aimed at helping customers get quick and easy access to their three credit scores and credit reports from the three major credit bureaus. Because a credit score is so vital when you’re shopping for a home, refinancing a mortgage or comparing interest rates, it’s important to have access when you need it. Although the app is intended for FreeScore members, non-members can enter their credit scores manually to take full advantage of the various tools such as a mortgage rate predictor, home finder and credit score comparison.
The FreeScore App, FREE to install, comes with three main areas of focus: your credit scores, your credit reports and your mortgage.
Credit Scores
This section allows FreeScore members to see their 3 credit scores in one click. To compare scores to others in the area, specify a zip code and click on the map. This will show the average scores around you — red points on the map indicate average scores below yours, and green points indicate average scores above. Want to check how your score compares to your neighbors? Just enter the credit score and use our location-based feature.
Another great feature for all house-hunters, is the ability to estimate mortgage interest rates as your credit score changes. Simply slide the compare score bar from left to right to adjust your score and get an instant update of rates. This feature in particular is available to everyone, and comes in handy when you’re estimating an affordable mortgage.
Credit Reports
Errors on a credit report occur far more often than you think and can have a negative effect on your credit scores, job opportunities, interest rates and more. As a FreeScore member, you’ll also get to check out your up-to-date triple credit reports to help you spot these inaccuracies.
Mortgage
This section allows you to see current interest rates, find a home and estimate rates for refinancing a home. By adjusting the mortgage criteria, including credit score, loan term, amount and zip code to name a few, you can get custom or generic rates and shop around for the best mortgage rate. You can also determine which homes you can and cannot afford using the exclusive Find a Home map. In addition, if you’re looking to refinance, check the refinance report that will provide additional insight. This feature is open to both members and non-members.
